When and how did you start riding FMX?
I started riding freestyle motocross at the age of 16, but my journey into FMX began much earlier. I’ve been friends with Dallan Goldman since we were kids, and it was through him that I was first introduced to the world of freestyle motocross. Dallan took me under his wing, guiding me through the sport and teaching me the fundamentals of jumping, trick progression, and bike control. Nearly everything I know about FMX today comes from his mentorship, and I’m grateful for the opportunities and knowledge he has shared with me along the way.
Who inspired you to start riding FMX?
My biggest influence in freestyle motocross has been Dallan Goldman. From the very beginning, he played a huge role in introducing me to the sport and guiding me through the learning process. His passion, skill, and dedication to FMX inspired me to push my own limits and develop my riding style. Watching him ride and train firsthand motivated me to take FMX seriously, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without his influence and mentorship.
Are there any riders you particularly admire?
Absolutely! There are a few riders who have had a major impact on my FMX journey:
- Dallan Goldman – Not only has he been my biggest influence, but his dedication to the sport and his ability to push boundaries continue to inspire me every day.
- Robbie Maddison – A true innovator in FMX, constantly redefining what’s possible on a dirt bike. His fearless approach and legendary stunts have set the standard for the sport.
- Jimmy Hill – His unique style and creativity on the bike make him one of the most exciting riders to watch. I admire the way he brings a fresh perspective to FMX and constantly evolves his riding.
What are some of your biggest achievements in FMX?
I’ve been fortunate to experience some incredible moments in my FMX career. Some of my biggest highlights include:
- Performing in front of 80,000 people in Tanzania – The energy and excitement from the crowd was unreal, and it was an unforgettable experience.
- Winning 1st place in the amateur FMX division at the Jungle Rush FMX Open Day and Masters of Dirt qualifier – A huge stepping stone in my journey as a competitive rider.
- Taking 1st place in the pro-amateur FMX division at The Institute FMX Development Series – A major achievement that pushed me to the next level.
- Securing 3rd place in the Best Whip contest at The Institute FMX Development Series – Competing against some seriously talented riders made this a special moment.
- 2nd place in Best Trick (Upright) at King of the Whip 2019 – A major honor in one of South Africa’s biggest FMX events.
- 3rd place in Best Trick (Upright) at King of the Whip 2022 – Coming back strong and securing another podium finish in this prestigious competition.
Where is your favorite place to ride?
Without a doubt, my favorite place to ride is the Jungle Rush FMX Compound. It’s the ultimate training ground, offering perfectly built ramps, a variety of jump setups, and an environment that pushes me to progress. The energy at the compound is always motivating, with some of the best riders coming through to train and push each other to the next level. Whether it’s dialing in new tricks, refining my technique, or just having fun on the bike, Jungle Rush FMX is where I feel most at home.
What other sports or hobbies do you enjoy?
I’m always drawn to extreme and adrenaline-fueled activities—anything that gives me a rush and challenges me physically and mentally. Outside of FMX, I love:
- Wakeboarding – It’s a great way to cross-train, improve balance, and have fun on the water.
- Mountain Biking – Hitting trails, jumps, and technical downhill runs keeps my reflexes sharp and my endurance high.
