When and how did you start riding FMX?

My journey into freestyle motocross started in 2010 when I was still focused on motocross racing. At the track where I used to train, a local rider built a small FMX park, and from the moment I hit those ramps, I was hooked. The feeling of launching off a perfectly built jump and being in the air made me realize that FMX was where my true passion lay. From that point on, I shifted my focus from racing to pushing my limits in freestyle motocross.

Who inspired you to start riding FMX?

My biggest inspiration in FMX has always been Libor Podmol, his technical skill, smooth style, and dedication to the sport made him my favorite rider. However, I also took a lot of inspiration from Travis Pastrana. His fearless approach to pushing boundaries and constantly evolving FMX showed me what was possible on a dirt bike. Watching these two legends ride made me want to pursue freestyle motocross and push my own limits.

Are there any riders you particularly admire?

Absolutely! There are a few riders who have had a big influence on me, both in motocross and freestyle:

  • Chad Reed – A true legend in motocross, known for his grit, determination, and longevity in the sport.
  • James Stewart – One of the most naturally talented and exciting riders to ever race, his speed and style were unmatched.
  • Ricky Carmichael – The GOAT of motocross, his work ethic and dominance set the standard for what it takes to be the best.
  • Taka Higashino – A freestyle innovator, especially with technical tricks and insane extensions.

What are some of your biggest achievements in FMX?

One of my biggest milestones was becoming a finalist at King of the Whip in 2017, competing alongside some of the top riders in the sport.

Beyond competitions, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to perform in FMX shows all across South Africa, as well as internationally in places like Malawi and Botswana. Traveling and showcasing freestyle motocross to different crowds has been an unforgettable experience, and I’m always looking forward to the next big event!

Where is your favorite place to ride?

Without a doubt, my favorite place to ride is the Jungle Rush FMX Compound. It’s the perfect training ground, offering well-built ramps, a variety of jump setups, and an environment that pushes riders to progress. Whether I’m working on new tricks or just having a solid session, Jungle Rush FMX provides everything needed to take my riding to the next level.

What other sports or hobbies do you enjoy?

When I’m not riding, I enjoy a mix of sports, music, and gaming to keep things balanced:

  • Golf – I play most rounds when I get the chance; it’s a great way to unwind and challenge myself in a different way.
  • Ukulele – I play a little (excuse the pun), but it’s a fun way to relax and enjoy some music.
  • Kickboxing & Jiu-Jitsu – I love training in both, they help with discipline, fitness, and mental focus.
  • Xbox – When the boys are online, you’ll definitely find me gaming and catching up with friends.
