When and how did you start riding FMX?

I spent most of my career as an MX rider, but I was always more drawn to the jumps than the racing aspect. Rather than focusing on speed, I was all about throwing big whips and having fun in the air.

My transition into FMX really began when I received my first invite to King of the Whip 2019. That’s where I met Jaques Human, who helped me learn some of the fundamental FMX tricks and introduced me to the scene.

After taking a short hiatus, I came back more determined than ever, and that’s when the Jungle Rush FMX team stepped in to help me progress to bigger tricks. Their support and guidance have been a game-changer, and I’ve been pushing myself further in FMX ever since!

Who inspired you to start riding FMX?

I’ve always been inspired by the OG legends of freestyle motocross. Watching X Games as a kid and seeing riders like Travis Pastrana, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, Mike Mason, and Nate Adams dominate the FMX scene had me hooked. Their style, skill, and fearless approach to riding made me want to be part of the sport.

More recently, the Jungle Rush FMX team has played a huge role in my progression. They showed me that the tricks I used to watch on TV weren’t just a dream—I could learn them, push my limits, and make FMX my own. Their support has been a game-changer in my journey.

Are there any riders you particularly admire?

Definitely! There are a few riders who have had a big impact on my approach to FMX and the way I push myself:

  • Dallan Goldman – A huge influence on my riding, always pushing the limits and helping me progress in the sport.
  • Jarryd McNeil – One of the best whip riders in the world—his style and precision are unreal.
  • Julien Vanstippen – His insane bike control and creativity make him one of the most exciting riders to watch.
  • Colby Raha – A fearless rider who thrives on big sends, whether it’s in FMX, freeriding, or X Games Real Moto.

What are some of your biggest achievements in FMX?

One of my biggest milestones was being invited to compete at King of the Whip in both 2019 and 2022. In 2019, I managed to make it to the semi-finals, which was an incredible experience and a huge confidence boost early in my FMX journey.

I’m always pushing myself to improve, and I’m eager to expand this list even further this year—bigger tricks, bigger events, and bigger goals!

Where is your favorite place to ride?

The Jungle Rush FMX Park is hands down the best place to ride if you’re looking to learn freestyle in South Africa! With a wide range of jump sizes, it’s the perfect training ground for both beginners and experienced riders looking to step up their game. Whether you’re just getting your feet wet in FMX or dialing in bigger tricks, Jungle Rush FMX offers everything you need to progress in a top-tier environment.

What other sports or hobbies do you enjoy?

When I get some free time away from work, I love playing electric guitar, there’s nothing like cranking up the amp and jamming out. I also enjoy gaming on PlayStation whenever I get the chance, it’s a great way to relax and switch off from the adrenaline of FMX.
